"I won't be able to inform you what exactly could happen there. Let's just get him nutritious first and then we'll see what occurs," Girardi stated.
The Yankees put Jeter on disabled checklist Tuesday evening immediately after he suffered a calf force on Monday night time in their reduction towards Indians.
The DL stint puts Jeter's quest for 3,000 hits on hold for a minimum of 14 days. Jeter, just 6 hits shy on the 3,000 club, is eligible to go in the disabled listing on June 29 -- a few days just after his 37th birthday.
Jeter is to the DL the first time given that he suffered a dislocated left shoulder on Opening Night time 2003, an accident that price tag him the earliest 36 games of the season.
Eduardo Nunez replaced Jeter in Tuesday's lineup and Ramiro Pena was named up from Triple-A Scranton to fill Jeter's spot on the roster.
The Yankees captain managed to get clear he wasn't satisfied with the proceed to those with disability record on Tuesday -- but he recognized it.
"I'd rather not proceed (the DL). I believe only could play in around a half dozen days, or 6 days or 7-day period, it can be superior to waiting 15," a subdued Jeter mentioned. "I haven't created residing around the disabled checklist."
The DL designation also decreases the likelihood that Jeter will get to the 3,000-hit plateau in the home.
On June 29, the Yankees plays the 2nd game of a three-game sequence at your home contrary to the Milwaukee Brewers, then leave over a six-game road trip, 3 at Citi Area from the Mets and 3 from the Indians in Cleveland.
"Well, I assume the timing was not excellent," Jeter explained on Tuesday. "It's frustrating but although I was not at this stage I'd be frustrated. I wouldn't like never to play. Regardless of whether I am about for three,000 hits or 100 hits, it really isn't going to really make a difference in my opinion. I'd elect to go in existence playing. I am disappointed since Personally i think many are looking toward finding the opportunity to see it, specially here this week. I'm bad for that. But ideally at some point on that day can come."
